When it comes to choosing childcare for your baby, it’s about more than just finding a place, it’s about finding the right place. Somewhere you feel confident your baby is not only safe, but genuinely cared for, nurtured, and understood. That’s exactly what we offer in the Hummingbird Room at Cranleigh Lodge Day Nursery.
Welcoming babies from 8 weeks to around 2 years old, the Hummingbird Room is a calm, homely space located on the upper floor of our nursery. Designed specifically with the needs of our youngest children in mind, it’s a peaceful retreat filled with warmth, comfort, and opportunity.
A Thoughtfully Designed Environment
Babies thrive in environments that are responsive, calm, and engaging. The Hummingbird Room has been created to reflect exactly that. Our open-plan layout is both spacious and secure, encouraging little ones to explore freely and safely, while being close to the watchful eyes of their carers.
We have a dedicated sleep room to support healthy routines and restful naps, a cosy kitchen to prepare feeds, and a thoughtfully stocked play area designed to inspire curiosity, sensory exploration, and movement, all essential for early development.
Personalised, Loving Care
What truly sets the Hummingbird Room apart is the level of individualised care each baby receives. With no more than nine babies cared for by our experienced team of three key workers, your child benefits from strong, nurturing relationships and plenty of one-on-one attention. We believe in forming close partnerships with parents too, to ensure your baby’s care feels like a natural extension of home.
From tummy time and sensory activities to songs, cuddles and stories, every moment is intentionally planned to support communication, physical development, and emotional security. Babies are gently introduced to new experiences in a way that respects their individual pace and personality.
Preparing for Confident Transitions
As your child grows, we support gentle transitions to the toddler room and garden, ensuring they feel confident and secure every step of the way. This gradual approach helps babies build independence while continuing to feel safe and supported by familiar faces.
Why the Right Setting Matters
The first two years of life are foundational. A nurturing, calm and developmentally appropriate setting lays the groundwork for future learning, social confidence, and emotional wellbeing. At Cranleigh Lodge, we don’t just look after babies, we celebrate them as individuals, meet them where they are, and help them flourish at their own pace. We’d love to welcome you and your baby to the Hummingbird Room.
