All children who attend Cranleigh Lodge receive a hot lunch, this is provided by ‘Nursery Kitchen‘. Tea time is then an opportunity for the children to develop independence in helping to prepare some of the meals. This is a combination of hot & cold food.
We hold 2 in house staff training days a year, where management train the rest of the team in areas of interest to team, or areas that need further development
All members of the team have up-to-date paediatric first aid training, as well as regular safeguarding refreshers and updates.

As a single parent to 6 year old Kezia in 2007, I decided something in my life needed to change! So I sold my house in Corfe Mullen and bought, what was then known as “Cradlecare Nursery”.
With over 14 years of experience working with children and the last 10 years of those in managing a nursery, it was time to go it alone! And what a journey the last 16 years have taken me on!
With hundreds of children, families and some amazing staff through the doors, I have been very privileged to have been part of their lives. Nurturing children to be confident, happy and inquisitive. Training and supporting staff to be the best practitioners they can be. In 2011 I married again and a year later, my son Charlie came along. It was quite quickly that we realised he had additional needs and has since been diagnosed with Global Development Delay, Sensory Processing Disorder with Autistic traits. It was time to think about changing the dynamics of mine and my family’s life again. With Hannah a supportive, fantastic team member already, it was a no brainer to move her into the role of manager so that I could step back and concentrate on my family.
We have now moved and live 40 miles from nursery, in the beautiful North Dorset countryside so that our little boy can attend the special school we felt was right for him. Whilst I still have huge input and love being in nursery, having fun with the team and the children, I know my team do an outstanding job every day and I am immensely proud of them all. Cranleigh Lodge is and always will be, my third child!

Prior to this I worked at Cranleigh as a student as part of my qualification so got to know the team before starting full time. Over the years here I have worked with all age groups, and love to see the children learn new skills and develop as little individuals. Days can be busy and we go home covered in paint, glitter and other unidentified messes, but its such a rewarding job and I love it! In my free time I enjoy going on days out with my Husband and our two young children, and also love quiet nights in with a film. I am currently on maternity leave and am due for a phased return in May 2024, and fully back from August 2024

Our Hummingbird Room cares for babies aged 8 weeks to around 18 months–2 years in a calm, nurturing upstairs space with up to nine babies and three dedicated staff.
The room includes a separate kitchen, sleep room, and a flexible open-plan play area for sensory and focused activities. With a built-in nappy station, wooden-floored messy play zone, and regular visits to the toddler room and garden, babies enjoy a smooth transition as they grow. Activities are thoughtfully planned to support each child’s individual development in communication, physical, and emotional skills.
The Robin Room supports toddlers aged 18 months to 3 years with a calm, nurturing transition from the baby room, including settle-in sessions as needed. The room accommodates up to 12 children and 3 members of staff.

Staff plan activities tailored to each child’s developmental needs, focusing on communication and language. The room accommodates up to eight toddlers with two staff and includes support for toilet training in a shared bathroom with preschool.
Our preschool is split into two groups—Owls and Owlets—based on school year, allowing age-appropriate activities and school readiness support.
Children enjoy a spacious, well-equipped room with areas for crafts, roleplay, reading, and more, plus access to the front garden for continuous provision and independence. Activities are planned around each child’s interests and developmental goals, covering all areas of the EYFS. With access to toilets and a designated changing area, children are supported through toilet training as needed, while also building confidence, motor skills, and emotional regulation.
